Addressing New Zealands Talent Shortage

NZ’s talent shortage over the past decade has been acknowledged and well documented.

A recent survey conducted by HR consultancy firm Manpower Group – showed 46 per cent of Kiwi employers reported difficulties in filling job vacancies in 2016. While the figure is down a little from 2015, it sits well above the global average of 40 per cent.

Always thinking of new ways to help their clients Enterprise has confirmed they will be starting a new role that will source offshore talent full-time. The position will be headed by current Christchurch Branch Manager Steve Baker and it kicks off on the 14th November.

Steve says the Nationwide position is a “dedicated response to the Talent Shortage faced by many NZ employers today”. “Enterprise has always been involved in recruiting offshore but now needs a position that is focussed fulltime on overseas recruitment”. As technology is forcing economies around the world to change and adapt, the always small pool of talent available in NZ continues to be highlighted and it is clear it will always need to be supplemented, particularly in highly skilled areas like IT. Having said that, he added, it’s also easier to get trade qualified people from Australia rather than find them in NZ, particularly when the position needs to be filled quickly and requires candidates who can move easily.

Enterprise will maintain their high procedural standards that clients and candidates expect with a particular focus on candidate care. “It has to be worth it for people to emigrate and start a new life but we’re convinced there’s nowhere better than NZ to make a new start.

We have three clients already in Auckland and Wellington.
