What You’ll Do
- System Architecture & Design: Define and document system-level requirements, create architecture diagrams, and manage requirements traceability.
- Functional Safety Leadership: Drive compliance with IEC 61508 standards (any SIL level), lead hazard and risk analyses (HARA), FMEA/FMEDA, and safety case development.
- Integration & Verification: Oversee system-level testing, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and environmental validation to ensure reliability and safety.
- Tool Selection: Recommend and implement tools for requirements management and safety analysis (e.g., DOORS, Polarion, MATLAB—or alternatives you propose).
- Team Leadership: Lead a small engineering team, mentor others, and act as the technical authority between development and management.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with hardware, embedded software, and electronics teams to ensure system-level integrity and performance.
- Degree in Systems Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in functional safety or system integration is required.
- Strong knowledge of IEC 61508 (any SIL level) and safety lifecycle processes is essential.
- Experience across embedded software and electronics design (or strong in one with exposure to the other).
- Ability to define architecture diagrams and manage requirements traceability.
- Leadership experience—comfortable managing a team and reporting to the Engineering Manager.
- Background in any safety-critical industry is preferred.
