Location: Wellington

Worktype: Full Time

Are you ready to take ownership of system architecture and functional safety for cutting-edge, safety-critical technology? This is a senior role where you’ll combine hands-on design with technical leadership, acting as the key link between engineering teams and management.

Join a team that is spearheading next-generation product development—technology that will set new standards globally. If you’re a strong leader, a solid team player, and an expert in safety standards, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.

What You’ll Do
  • System Architecture & Design: Define and document system-level requirements, create architecture diagrams, and manage requirements traceability.
  • Functional Safety Leadership: Drive compliance with IEC 61508 standards (any SIL level), lead hazard and risk analyses (HARA), FMEA/FMEDA, and safety case development.
  • Integration & Verification: Oversee system-level testing, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and environmental validation to ensure reliability and safety.
  • Tool Selection: Recommend and implement tools for requirements management and safety analysis (e.g., DOORS, Polarion, MATLAB—or alternatives you propose).
  • Team Leadership: Lead a small engineering team, mentor others, and act as the technical authority between development and management.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with hardware, embedded software, and electronics teams to ensure system-level integrity and performance.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in functional safety or system integration is required.
  • Strong knowledge of IEC 61508 (any SIL level) and safety lifecycle processes is essential.
  • Experience across embedded software and electronics design (or strong in one with exposure to the other).
  • Ability to define architecture diagrams and manage requirements traceability.
  • Leadership experience—comfortable managing a team and reporting to the Engineering Manager.
  • Background in any safety-critical industry is preferred.
Why Join?
  • Be part of a team designing and developing innovative, safety-critical technology for the next generation.
  • Shape the architecture and compliance strategy for groundbreaking products.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Work with a global leader in state-of-the-art electronic devices used worldwide.
