The Opportunity
We’re seeking a qualified carpenter with proven commercial construction experience to take the lead on commercial projects. You’ll oversee a core team of around 6, with the ability to coordinate up to 30 people during larger project phases.
Based in either Whanganui or Palmerston North, you’ll play a key part in delivering significant commercial builds—ensuring high‑quality workmanship, strong team performance, and on‑time project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on‑site teams to deliver high‑quality commercial carpentry work
- Oversee and coordinate daily activities across crews, subcontractors, and site personnel
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and workflow efficiency
- Ensure project milestones are met on time and to specification
- Support a positive, hard‑working, family‑style team culture
- Communicate clearly with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders
- Take ownership of work standards and help drive project success
- A relevant trade qualification in carpentry or similar
- Strong commercial construction experience (essential)
- Proven capability leading teams on active construction sites
- Solid understanding of NZ construction codes, practices, and laws
- Full NZ work rights and a current NZ driver’s licence
