The Role
We are seeking a seasoned Senior HR Business Partner based in Christchurch to join their leadership team. This is a pivotal senior level role reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, offering scope to influence and drive business outcomes through people strategy.
You’ll be responsible for leading organisational development, performance management, recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, and policy compliance. As such, there will be some travel involved to both the regional business and to Australia at select times throughout the year. You'll also work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to build workforce capability, support culture and direction, and contribute to strategic planning and change management.
This is a hands-on, relationship-focused role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings a proactive, business partnering mindset to everything they do.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and champion a high-performance culture aligned with Tyremax’s mission and values
- Provide expert coaching, mentoring, and support to managers and staff across all levels
- Develop and implement HR strategies and frameworks across recruitment, onboarding, performance, and L&D
- Partner with senior leaders to support organisational growth, structure, and capability
- Oversee employment relations and ensure legislative compliance, best practice policy, and risk mitigation
- Lead the continuous improvement of HR processes, systems, and reporting
- Support cultural alignment during times of change, including integration and growth initiatives
- Manage performance and remuneration review processes
- Collaborate closely with the HR team to align best practise processes across the whole business.
- A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- At least 5+ years in a senior HR role, ideally within a medium to large business
- Proven experience advising and influencing at a senior leadership level
- High level working knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and HR best practice, Australian employment experience a definite advantage
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and trust across all levels
- A continuous improvement mindset, with demonstrated ability to lead change
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with attention to detail
