Scanning & Optimisation Specialist | Timber Processing & Industrial Technology We are looking for a technically minded and operationally driven Scanning & Optimisation Specialist to join a leading New Zealand timber manufacturing business. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of industrial technology, production optimisation, automation, and manufacturing performance within a highly specialised processing environment.

You will play a key role in improving wood recovery, operational efficiency, and scanning system performance across sawmill and remanufacturing operations. This position would suit someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, working with data and systems, and collaborating closely with production teams.

What You’ll Be Doing  :
  • Optimising scanning and recovery systems to improve production performance
  • Analysing operational and production data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Supporting advanced scanning, optimisation, and process technology.
  • Working closely with operators, engineers, and leadership teams.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Helping maximise timber recovery and operational efficiency
What We’re Looking For We are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, including:
  • Sawmill or timber processing
  • Industrial automation and controls
  • Process or production engineering
  • Manufacturing optimisation
  • Vision systems or industrial scanning technology
  • Heavy industrial or manufacturing environments
You may currently work as a: Process Engineer Optimisation | Specialist Controls Engineer | Production Engineer | Automation Engineer |Systems Engineer Recovery | Scanning

Technician Key Skills & Experience:
  1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  2. Experience improving production efficiency, recovery, or operational performance
  3. Ability to work between technical systems and production teams
  4. Exposure to industrial automation, optimisation, or scanning systems highly regarded
  5. Practical, hands-on approach with good communication skills
