Sales Engineer - Instrumentation

We are seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to join our client, specialising in industrial instrumentation and mechanical engineering solutions across New Zealand. Their Head Office is in Auckland, but you will predominantly service clients across the Waikato to Wellington regions – a Waikato base is likely to be most convenient.

In this role, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with your strong relationship-building skills to support customers, particularly in the food manufacturing and distribution sector. You’ll work closely with clients to understand their operations, provide tailored solutions, and drive business growth through trusted advice and practical support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and grow a portfolio of industrial clients
• Identify and develop new business opportunities through personal engagement
• Provide technical advice and product support on a range of instrumentation and mechanical systems
• Coordinate with internal teams (Sales, Customer Service, Accounts, Production) to deliver a seamless customer experience
• Maintain accurate CRM records to ensure high levels of service and visibility
• Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets and margin goals

• Strong background in mechanical engineering and instrumentation (temperature, pressure, flow, level measurement)
• Proven technical sales experience, ideally in industrial sectors
• Practical, solutions-focused approach to client needs
• Highly organised, self-driven, and commercially aware
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient with CRM systems and reporting tools
• Willingness to travel as required across your territory
