Our client is a well-regarded civil contractor with a solid reputation across Canterbury and a healthy pipeline of roading work ahead of them. They've built that reputation on doing the job properly the first time, and a big part of that comes down to the people running their sites.
They're now looking for an experienced Roading Foreman to take charge of a crew. This is a hands-on leadership role covering pavement construction, asphalt, kerb and channel, drainage and general civil works, across a mix of council and private contracts. You'll be the one setting the pace on site, making the calls when conditions change, and making sure the work goes in to spec and on programme.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading a crew on roading, asphalt and general civil works
- Planning daily works, allocating labour, plant and materials
- Managing subcontractors and liaising with the project manager and client
- Quality control, setting out and ensuring work meets spec
- Driving health and safety on site, including daily briefings
- Proven foreman or leading hand experience in roading or civil
- Sound knowledge of pavement construction, asphalt and drainage
- Class 2 licence or higher, WTR endorsements an advantage
- STMS warrant is a bonus but not essential
- Strong leadership and the ability to get the best out of a crew
- Permanent, full-time position
- Competitive remuneration package based on experience
- Vehicle, phone and laptop
- Genuine progression with a contractor that promotes from within
