Junior Quantity Surveyor – 18‑Month Contract (Hawke’s Bay)

Are you a motivated junior QS looking to grow your skills on meaningful commercial projects? This 18‑month fixed‑term role, based in Hawke’s Bay, offers the chance to work on a significant commercial build alongside a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.

We’re seeking someone early in their QS career with New Zealand experience, keen to learn, develop, and take the next step within a supportive and reputable company. 

About the Role
You’ll support all key aspects of construction and project delivery, including commercial management, quality assurance, health & safety, and site coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Measuring and pricing for consent and construction
  • Supplier quoting and material rate calculations
  • Contract negotiations
  • Processing variations, progress claims, subcontractor payments, and financial reporting
  • Contractor administration and document control
  • Assisting with programming and QA
  • Preparing schedules of quantities and project budgets
  • Supporting H&S reporting
  • Attending site visits, engaging with subcontractors, and liaising with clients
  • Occasional supervision and dispute‑resolution support

  Skills & experience we are looking for
  • Completed or almost completed a Bachelor of Construction (QS)
  • 2-3 years’ experience as a Junior QS or similar
  • Experience with NZ building laws and regulations is essential for this role
  • Ideal experience with commercial project builds.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Projex experience a bonus
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Relationship‑building and problem‑solving abilities
  • A New Zealand Citizen / resident / full work rights are required for this role.
