Location: Invercargill

Worktype: Full Time

As NZ’s leading manufacturer, supplier and exporter of frozen pastry, butter-based bakery products and sauces, our client is seeking a well-rounded Maintenance Engineer to join their small, high-performing team.
This is an opportunity to step into a modern, well-resourced plant where you’ll have real ownership across a broad range of maintenance activities, working alongside a collaborative team that values reliability, continuous improvement and doing things properly. Operating 5 days a week, this is primarily a dayshift role with a shared on-call roster and limited after hours work. It offers an excellent lifestyle balance without compromising on technical challenge or career development.

The Role:

You’ll be involved across all aspects of site maintenance, including:
  • Installation and maintenance of plant, equipment, buildings and tools
  • Preventative maintenance and servicing programmes
  • Breakdown response, fault finding and repairs
  • Supporting plant upgrades, new equipment installs and process improvements
  • Contributing ideas to improve reliability, efficiency and safety
  About You:
  • NZ recognised trade qualification and significant mechanical or maintenance engineering experience
  • Strong all-round mechanical aptitude with hands-on problem-solving skills and quality workmanship
  • Experience with MIG/TIG welding and general fabrication
  • Fitter/turner capabilities highly regarded
  • Confident reading drawings, plans and diagnostics
  • Flexible and dependable when on call
  • Self-motivated with a practical, team focused approach

What’s on Offer:
  • Great lifestyle role – predominantly dayshift with most weekends free
  • Technical variety – exposure to a range of plant and equipment
  • Small, high-performing team – supportive, collaborative environment
  • Strong remuneration package relative to experience
  • Work for a stable, expanding NZ manufacturer
This role suits a tradesperson who enjoys variety, problem-solving and being part of a tight-knit team where everyone contributes. Experience in food production or process plant is advantageous, but not essential.

Previous NZ experience is preferred, however all applications will be considered. You must reside in and have current rights to work in NZ, overseas candidates will not be considered.
