We’re partnering with a well-established NZ manufacturer to recruit a Machine Operator for their Ashburton team, producing plastic packaging for the food industry.
This is a hands-on, technical role where you’ll be right in the mix - supporting production, improving processes, and helping ensure everything runs efficiently day to day.
About the Role
Working as part of a close-knit production team, you’ll be responsible for setting, maintaining, and optimising machinery, while ensuring quality and safety standards are consistently met.
This is a busy, practical role where you’ll be involved in:
- Setting and optimising plastics processing machinery
- Carrying out mould and tool changes, including full line changeovers
- Monitoring and adjusting production to maximise efficiency and quality
- Troubleshooting faults and minimising downtime
- Completing routine maintenance and supporting plant performance
- Working closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and cleanliness

You’ll bring:
- Experience in manufacturing or plastics processing (preferred but not essential)
- Experience with mould/tool changes and production line changeover
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to manage changing priorities and work as part of a team
- Reliable and willing to get stuck in
- Proactive and keen to learn
- Adaptable in a changing production environment
- A team player with a practical, can-do mindset
- Monday - Friday, 7.30am – 4.30pm
- Full-time (40 hours per week), with overtime available
