IEC 61508 Safety Expert – Shape the Future of Functional Safety

Our client is an international business with decades of success and history in delivering mission-critical solutions, where safety is non-negotiable. You will be leading and guiding the team on IE61508 while developing and creating the next generation of state-of-the-art technology
 
What You’ll Do
  • Own Safety Leadership: Drive the functional safety lifecycle from concept to decommissioning. Champion safety culture across engineering teams.
  • Architect for Safety: Define system-level safety requirements and architecture for hardware, firmware, and user interfaces.
  • Analyse & Assess: Lead HAZID, HARA, FMEA/FMEDA, and Fault Tree Analysis. Determine and verify SIL compliance.
  • Validate & Verify: Prepare safety cases and support independent safety assessments.
  • Collaborate & Influence: Work closely with hardware, software, and operations teams to ensure robust, compliant designs. 
What We’re Looking For
  • Deep expertise in IEC 61508 and functional safety lifecycle
  • A degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar is preferred
  • Skilled in hazard analysis techniques (HAZID, HARA, FMEA/FMEDA, FTA).
  • Proven experience with SIL determination and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of redundancy concepts, diagnostics, and safe-state design.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to pass security checks.
Bonus Points:
Formal training or certification in Functional Safety Engineering.
