This is an exciting opportunity to step into a role with real influence, where you’ll shape and lead health, safety, and compliance across multiple sites nationally.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for embedding and driving a strong health & safety culture, ensuring compliance across sites, and acting as the first point of contact for all health, safety, and environmental matters. This position is hands-on, requiring both site visits and strategic oversight to maintain high standards and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading health, safety, and environmental compliance across multiple sites.
- Chairing H&S and Environmental Committee meetings and engaging with site representatives.
- Conducting audits, site inspections, and compliance checks.
- Managing national compliance programmes (including fleet and environmental).
- Supporting staff inductions, training, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Reporting on incidents, risks, and H&S performance to senior management.
- Driving a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
We’re seeking a practical and approachable leader with a proven background in health & safety management. You’ll be confident working across all levels of a business — from the yard to the boardroom — and able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on action.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- 8 years+ H&S management experience
- Experience in managing H+S across multi-sites, and experience in industrial / construction environments would be preferred.
- A related H+S qualification/certificate is ideal
- A solid understanding of New Zealand H&S legislation and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills — able to influence, educate, and engage others.
- Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and confidence with reporting systems.
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently when required.
- Full, clean driver’s licence and flexibility to travel nationally.
- Be an NZ resident, citizen, or have an open work visa.
- A newly created role with real scope to shape and influence.
- National responsibility across diverse operations
- Support from a committed senior management team.
- Career stability within a well-established, growing organisation.
