About the Role
- We're looking for extra hands to help harvest and process harakeke (NZ flax) as part of a small, fast-moving team producing natural fibre materials.
- This is a hands-on, physical role working directly with harakeke from the field to the processing machinery.
- You'll be part of a small crew, learning as you go and contributing to a product used in industries worldwide.
- No prior experience with harakeke or fibre processing is needed. If you're reliable, physically fit and keen to learn, we want to hear from you.
- There may be an opportunity to continue into future harvesting seasons for the right person.
- Harvesting harakeke in the field: cutting, grading, and preparing bundles of leaves
- Processing fibre: leaf input, fibre handling, and fibre sorting
- Operating equipment including fibre processing and cleaning machinery
- Keeping the workspace clean, safe, and well-organised
- Working alongside the team to hit production targets over the coming months
- Very fit and physically able — this role involves demanding outdoor harvesting work
- Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and a good team player
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and a police check
- A genuine interest in engineering, technology, or ecology is a bonus
- Full-time hours, 8am–5pm
- $28/hour
- 40 hrs/week
