Skills & Experience Required
- Full Class 5 licence essential.
- WTR or other endorsements (advantageous but not mandatory).
- Experience in civil construction, roading, or bulk earthworks driving.
- Strong understanding of heavy vehicle operation and load security.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow site instructions.
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work well in a team.
- Operate Class 5 trucks, including tippers, truck & trailer units, bulk haulage vehicles.
- Transport aggregates, soil, sand, asphalt, demolition waste, and other civil materials.
- Hook/unhook trailers and secure loads in compliance with NZTA regulations.
- Complete deliveries to civil sites, quarries, and depots efficiently and safely.
- Operate hydraulic systems (e.g., tipping bodies) accurately and safely.
- Work with excavators, loaders, and other heavy plant during loading.
- Assist civil crews with labouring/spotting when required. (50/50)
- Carry out daily pre-start checks, fault reporting, and routine maintenance.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and transport documentation.
- Ensure vehicles remain clean, safe, and compliant at all times.
- Follow all company safety procedures, TMPs, and site-specific protocols.
- Adhere to NZ road transport laws, weight limits, and fatigue management requirements.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, inductions, and training.
- Use all required PPE and promote a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, site supervisors, and other operators.
- Work collaboratively with civil and roading teams to meet project timelines.
- Represent the company professionally on job sites and public roads.
