About the Role:
This permanent position is responsible for installing and maintaining stormwater and sewer drainage systems to New Zealand standards on residential and commercial construction sites.

You will play a key role in ensuring drainage works are completed accurately, safely, and on time, working closely with site teams and inspectors.

Your technical skills and attention to detail will directly support project quality, compliance, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
* Install stormwater and sewer drainage systems in accordance with approved plans and specifications
* Interpret drainage drawings, set out runs, and establish correct levels using lasers and other levelling equipment
* Operate pipe laying and trenching equipment to excavate, install, and align pipes to required grades
* Implement safe excavation and trench shoring practices to protect workers and maintain site stability
* Carry out pipe jointing, sealing, and testing to ensure watertight and compliant installations
* Backfill, compact, and reinstate trenches and surfaces to specified standards
* Co-ordinate with contractors, engineers, and inspectors to schedule inspections and resolve site issues
* Maintain strict adherence to health and safety procedures and documentation on all construction sites

Key Requirements:
* Certified Drainlayer registration (or eligibility) in New Zealand
* Proven experience installing stormwater and sewer drainage systems on construction projects
* Strong ability to read and interpret drainage plans, specifications, and set-out information
* Competent in using pipe laying, trenching, and compaction equipment
* Solid understanding of safe excavation, trench shoring, and working around services
* Demonstrated commitment to health and safety compliance on active construction sites
* Confident in using laser levelling and other tools to establish accurate grades and levels
* Effective communication skills for working with site teams, contractors, and inspectors

Desirable Skills:
* Experience working on both residential and commercial drainage projects
* Knowledge of local council requirements and inspection processes
* Familiarity with CCTV inspection, pressure testing, or other diagnostic methods
* Ability to assist with basic documentation and site records related to drainage works

Qualifications:
*Certified Drainlayer registration with the New Zealand Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB)
* Relevant trade qualification in drainlaying or civil construction (preferred)
* Current Site Safe or equivalent construction safety certification (preferred)
* Valid New Zealand driver’s licence
