Bitumen & Surfacing Equipment Mechanic Specialist Auckland | $45-$48 per hour + Time & a Half After 40 Hours

Are you an experienced mechanic with a background in bitumen and surfacing equipment?

We are seeking a skilled Bitumen & Surfacing Equipment Mechanic to join their Auckland-based team in South Auckland.  This is a specialist role requiring hands-on experience maintaining and repairing bitumen sprayers, bitumen trailers, emulsion equipment and associated surfacing machinery.

About the Role
You will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing specialist bitumen and surfacing equipment, ensuring machinery remains safe, compliant and operational.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Bitumen sprayer repairs and maintenance
  • Bitumen trailer repairs
  • Emulsion equipment repairs,  servicing E2 repairs and fault finding
  • Burner repairs and maintenance
  • Wing repairs and associated equipment maintenance, Hydraulic and mechanical repairs
  • Preventative maintenance and breakdown response
  • Workshop and field-based servicing as required
Essential Experience:
  • This is a highly specialised position and the following experience is considered essential:
  • Proven experience with bitumen sprayer repairs
  • Experience repairing and maintaining bitumen trailers
  • Strong knowledge of emulsion equipment
  • Hands-on E2 repair experience
  • Burner repair and maintenance experience
  • Wing repair experience
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills

Please note that candidates with general heavy diesel, mechanical fitting, quarrying or industrial maintenance experience alone are unlikely to be suitable unless they have direct experience with the equipment listed above.

About You:   To be successful, you will:
  • Be a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter or equivalent trade professional with qualifications.
  • Have experience working independently on specialised equipment
  • Possess strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Have a proactive and safety-focused approach
  • Take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship
