Our client is looking for a reliable and hands‑on 2IC to support the Foreman in delivering essential 3 Waters and civil infrastructure projects across Canterbury. This role suits someone who enjoys working on the tools while helping coordinate day‑to‑day activities on site.
About the role:
You’ll be supporting the Foreman with supervising a small crew working on water, wastewater, and stormwater projects. The role involves assisting with organising materials and plant, helping keep productivity on track, and ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard. Experience in 3 Waters or drainage work will be a strong advantage.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist with installing and repairing drainage, sewer, and stormwater systems
- Help with trenching, pipe laying, and manhole alignment
- Support connecting, testing, and inspecting pipes
- Operate machinery such as excavators, loaders, or trucks as required
- Follow site Health & Safety procedures at all times
- Work alongside the Foreman, crew, and project team to keep work moving
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a tidy, organised worksite
- Experience in 3 Waters, drainage, or civil work
- Solid hands‑on skills with the ability to support the Foreman
- Ability to read plans and follow site instructions
- Reliable, steady, and practical on the tools
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Good understanding of Health & Safety on civil sites
