Health & Safety – commitment, not lip service

We acknowledge that ‘Safety is no Accident’ and liaise closely with clients and candidates. As an ACC accredited employer our Health & Safety systems and processes are audited annually. The development of these has moved us well beyond compliance, earning Enterprise recognition as an industry leader in this area.

Several years ago we set up a dedicated ‘Workplace Health and Safety Strategy Team’. This has moved our focus to prevention through proactive education and the identification and management of worksite risk factors. This delivers more effective outcomes than being the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff. The programmes we’ve implemented (including Customer Site Health and Safety Audits, Site Health and Safety Inductions and a sophisticated incident database management system) are delivering tangible results.

This campaign has built awareness through staff education and the provision of job/worksite selfassessment tools. Alongside this Enterprise’s ‘Safety is no Accident Awards’ acknowledge employees and worksites that demonstrate innovation or good practice. ‘Safety is no Accident’ has resulted in higher engagement and increased awareness of Health and Safety in the workplace.

Our approach has delivered real benefits, with improvements in our Consultants’ ability to identify recurring issues and focus on prevention. Consequently, the last five years have seen a consistent reduction in injury rates and better/quicker return to work outcomes.

Enterprise Recruitment are in the ACC Partnership Program meaning that if you have an accident whilst at work your treatment and rehabilitation will be managed by Enterprise and our TPA WELLNZ. Read here about how the process works.

Feedback from our clients

“We just had a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Audit and the auditor said Enterprise’s Health & Safety processes are the best he’s seen from any recruitment company, and that you should be commended on your efforts.”

Enterprise is a signatory to the Canterbury Rebuild Safety Charter , highlighting our desire to show leadership to help achieve the vision of a safe rebuild. Ian McPherson, Operations Director, recognized that the recruitment industry needs to be represented within the Charter as it was likely that a significant % of the rebuild workforce would be through employed through labour hire companies so selfnomintated to sit on the Canterbury Rebuild Safety Leaders Steering Group which focuses on:

  • Leadership – demonstration of visible leadership across the
  • Canterbury Construction Industry
  • Communications – continued communications of good practices and
  • communication across the industry
  • Charter Performance – Measurement and effectiveness of the
  • Canterbury Rebuild Safety Charter

The value of being involved in this is two fold – firstly representing the industry/Enterprise within Canterbury Rebuild leadership but also Government is looking closely at the industry collaboration model that the charter represents and the benefits of it and considering how this could be a national initiative. Having industry represented from the outset opens up future partnerships and leadership opportunities.
